I'm using an other approach. i added a "echo Computer startet >>\\server\share\%computername%.txt" t o the Computer startup policy. So i get a file about a new computer start.
A process on a server can than run sydi remotely againts that computer. Very easy and centralized and a user cant stop it. Only a desktop firewall might stop remote WMI access

I'm using sydi on the logon script, but my strategy is to run it only one day each week I have a small utility that returns the day of the week and based on that i run the script. I has helped a lot to keep track of computer hardware.

Thanks

Michael - That's a good way to do it. Although I wouldn't use it on laptop computers.

You could probably run this as a shutdown script instead of the startup script as well. Most people don't hang around waiting for the computer to shutdown they just leave.
